Raised in Southern Florida, Reed Dieffenbach has been playing drumset professionally since the age of 14. He has played at such venues as Walt Disney World, Sea World and World Famous Rosie O'Grady's. He received two scholarships to attend Berklee College of Music including the only Buddy Rich Jazz Masters scholarship given that year. After graduating, Reed returned to Florida where he played regularly with the Cliff Zimmerman Trio at venues including the Suncoast Jazz Festival and the Crews Lake Jazz and Blues Festival. In 1993, Reed returned to Boston where he was awarded a teaching position at the National Music Workshop. While teaching for NMW he played concerts with legendary bassists Dave LaRue and Steve Bailey. Reed has done several recordings since his return to Boston, including film scores for Arch Angel and American Rhapsody. He accompanied Mary Beth Motgomery (with Harry Fix playing piano) on her jazz CD. Reed has spent the last two years playing jazz brunches for the Spirit of Boston cruises and the last 6 years playing steadily throughout New England with several jazz combos including So What, Mary Beth Montgomery, The Pamela Hines Trio, and The Second Story Quintet. He has studied with drummer Bob Gullotti for the last 2 years. |
